Episode 105 - Spawn
“Oops. A wet one. I hope I don’t stain my underwear. Look at that. Skid Marks.” - The Clown
Folks that’s the level of sophistication on display in this week’s film. You’ve been warned!
Welcome to a brand new episode of Not A Bomb, the podcast where we reexamine some of Hollywood’s biggest financial bombs and critically panned films. The podcast has hit rock bottom, again, this time with the 1997 superhero film - Spawn. Based on the Image comic and created by the legendary artist Tood McFarlane, Spawn is the story of Al Simmons making a deal with a demon to get revenge for those who have turned him into an overcooked hamburger. Have you seen The Crow? Maybe read a Batman comic? Well, you’ve seen Spawn the movie. Friend of the show and host of The Gentlemen’s Guide to Midnite Cinema, Sammy, joins to discuss the origins of the character, Image Comics and the correct pronunciation of McFarlane.
