On this week’s episode, the gang discusses one of the most infamous big budget films of all time - Waterworld, AKA Kevin’s Gate, AKA Fishtar. Waterworld was the most expensive movie ever made, at the time, and was plagued by bad press, difficult production, and clashes between the main star and director. Not A Bomb could not tackle such a film on their own, so they called friend of the show - Josh from The VHS Files podcast to assist in the discussion. Was Waterworld the disaster the press made it out to be? Was this a case of critics reviewing the budget rather than the film? Good guess. This week we dive into the post-apocalyptic, mail-man movie - The Postman. To assist in this 3 hour “epic”, Not A Bomb welcomes back - Sammy from the GGTMC.
The gang quickly realizes that The Postman may be more poignant in today’s political climate than when it was initially released. Sadly, the film is marred by poor dialogue, a 3 hour runtime, zero action, and Kevin Costner’s comedic skills.
