Episode 241 - The Dark Tower
Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we explore some of cinema’s biggest box failures and decide if they deserve a second chance.
Unfortunately, Troy and Brad must say goodbye to the McConaughthon as our month dedicated to the one and only Matthew McConaughey comes to an end. In this week's episode, the guys discuss a film that was meant to launch a multi-media extravaganza. However, its lackluster box office performance and critical reception prevented it from getting off the ground. The gang examines The Dark Tower, which is loosely based on Stephen King's novel series of the same name. While the movie offers a simplified take on the books, does it motivate viewers to dive into the series? How many Stephen King Easter eggs can one film contain? Can Idris Elba rescue this aimless journey? Tune in to find out!
The Dark Tower is directed by Nikolaj Arcel and stars Idris Elba, Matthew McConaughey, Tom Taylor, Claudia Kim, Fran Kranz, Abbey Lee, and Jackie Earle Haley.

As the McConaughthon comes to a close, Troy and Brad must bid farewell to their month-long celebration of the one and only Matthew McConaughey. In this week’s episode, the guys take on a film that aimed to kickstart a sprawling multimedia franchise but never found its footing. They dive into The Dark Tower, a loose adaptation of Stephen King’s beloved book series. Does this streamlined take on the source material inspire newcomers to explore the novels? Just how many Stephen King Easter eggs can one movie pack in? And can Idris Elba salvage this directionless quest? Tune in to find out!

Episode 239 - Reign of Fire
Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This is the podcast where we explore some of cinema’s biggest box failures and decide if they deserve a second chance.
January has become an impromptu Matthew McConaughey month or “McConaughthon.” Last week, the guys tackled Tiptoes. This week, they had to do a hard turn into science-fiction with 2002’s post-apocalyptic film - Reign of Fire. Both a financial and critical disappointment, Reign of Fire finds a stellar early 2000’s cast fighting fire-breathing dragons. The film has become somewhat of a cult classic, but do Troy and Brad agree? Download to find out!
Reign of Fire is directed by Rob Bowman and stars Matthew McConaughey, Christian Bale, Izabella Scorupco, and Gerald Butler.

Happy New Year, and thank you for supporting the podcast in 2025. After this week’s choice, you might never want to listen to the podcast again. Troy and Brad had the best intentions. There was once a movie in which Gary Oldman, in the role of a lifetime, played a little person who happened to be the twin brother of Matthew McConaughey. Sounds fun, right? Well, not really.
