Episode 64 - The Outlaw (2017)

Welcome back to Not A Bomb! This week is all about Korean film appreciation and a long discussion about 2017’s action/thriller/comedy - The Outlaws. To assist with this massive episode, Troy and Brad welcome back not one but two returning guests - Nathan and John. SPOILER!!! This film is totally not a bomb! The Outlaws was a huge success in Korea, but Troy and Brad wanted to introduce the movie to their audience so they are playing fast and loose with the Not A Bomb rulebook.

The gang starts the show discussing what Korean films they would pick to introduce someone to the genre (get your notebooks out because their are a lot of great recommendations). The guys also spend a lot of time gushing over Don Lee, the star of The Outlaws. Don is mostly known for his role in 2016’s Train to Busan but he will also be starring in the upcoming Marvel film - Eternals. He is a true force of nature in this film and one of the most charismatic actors working in the movie industry. Lastly, a really bad Steven Seagal impression makes its debut, which Brad fully apologizes for in advance!

The Outlaws is directed by Kang Yoon-sung and stars Ma Dong-seok (Don Lee) and Yoon Kye-sang.

Episode 63 - Treasure Planet

Ahoy, Matey! Welcome back to another exciting episode of Not a Bomb podcast. On this episode, the gang is once again discussing a sci-fi/animated film, this time in the form of space pirates - Treasure Planet. The film would mark the third time Disney adapted the Robert Louis Stevenson novel, Treasure Island ,and is known as one of the biggest bombs in the mouse’s history. With a colossal budget of $140,000,000, Treasure Planet is the most expensive hand-drawn animated film of all time.

Treasure Planet was created by the powerhouse team of Musker and Clements, who created such films as The Little Mermaid, Aladdin, and Hercules. Of course, all of those films were major successes for Disney. However, when Treasure Planet was released, there was stiff competition from a boy wizard, a British spy, and Tim Allen in a fat suit.

Treasure Planet is directed by Ron Clements and John Musker and stars Joseph Gordon-Levitt, Brian Murray, Emma Thompson, David Hype Pierce, Michael Wincott, Laurie Metcalf, Martin Short, Roscoe Lee Browne, and Patrick McGoohan.
