Episode 168 - The Fabelmans
Welcome back to Not A Bomb podcast! This is the show where we go back and reexamine some of the biggest bombs in cinematic history and see if they deserve a second chance. On this introspective episode, we tackle 2022’s box office bomb, but critical darling - The Fabelmans. Legendary artist Steven Spielberg directs this coming-of-age drama and gives us a glimpse into his adolescent years as an early filmmaker. We are lucky to have our good friend Alex back on the show who, apparently, has seen this film three times! Before we discuss this very expensive therapy session, we spend a little time discussing some of our favorite “movies about movies.” The Fabelmans failed to recoup it’s production budget on it’s initial run but did manage to get a bunch of Oscar nominations. Where the critics just giving this film a pass because of Spielberg’s name? Did audiences miss out on an interesting and intimate portrait of a great American film director? Download and find out what we think!
The Fabelmans is directed by Steven Spielberg and stars Michelle Williams, Paul Dao, Seth Rogen, Gabriel LaBelle and Judd Hirsch.

NAB Presents: Breaking Brad - Experiment 7: Argento's Dracula (Dracula 3D)
Welcome back to Not A Bomb Presents: Breaking Brad. The premise is pretty simple. Troy, Sammy from GGTMC, and Jose from Watch/Skip+ pick some of the worst films imaginable to see if they can break Brad. On this episode, the gang tackles “Legendary” director Dario Argento’s adaption of Dracula in 2012’s Dracula 3D. Oh boy. There is so much to unpack in this one: Asia Argento’s “performance”, a CGI praying mantis, color changing trains, a sleepwalking Rutger Hauer performance, and garlic bullets. Was this the film that finally broke Brad? Or did it cause some collateral damage among the group? Listen and find out!
Be sure to subscribe to the Gentlemen’s Guide to Midnite Cinema to hear more of Sammy. Also, check out Jose’s podcast - Watch/Skip+ • A podcast on Anchor. Both are highly recommended.

Episode 167 - Kingdom of Heaven (Director's Cut)
Welcome back to another exciting episode of Not A Bomb. This is the podcast where we go back and reexamine some of the biggest bombs in cinematic history and see if they deserve a second chance. On this week’s “epic” episode, we discuss yet another Ridley Scott film, 2005’s historical drama - Kingdom of Heaven (Director’s Cut). Based on a heavily fictionalized portrayal of the the Third Crusade, Kingdom of Heaven had mixed reviews and was a domestic flop on its initial release in May of 2005. Later that same year, Scott went back to the film and added back in 45 minutes of footage for a special showing on December 23rd in Los Angeles, California. The new director’s cut was embraced by the critics and eventually released on DVD. Most film enthusiasts consider this release to be the definitive version of the film. But do we agree, or is this just a bigger bomb? Listen and find out!
